QFC - Quit For a Cause

Story

~ THE ISSUE ~

The plight of Pakistan's people caught in the aftermath of the recent Pakistan Floods is devastatingly horrific.

This tragic event is enormous in proportion and is larger than the recent Tsunami disaster that plagued South East Asia.

The only thing is that it's not widely covered in Australian media and is forgotten quite easily.

Upto 15 million people are displaced (that's almost equivalent to the sum total of Australia's population).

~ MY MISSION ~

My mission is to raise money for the people of Pakistan in their fight to survive one of the worst natural disasters of our time.
I am to raise $5,000.00, which may seem a lot for one person. However with your support and business support I know I can achieve this goal.

~ THE CHALLENGE ~

Quit For a Cause ‘QFC’:
As of tomorrow, Tuesday the 5th of October 2010, I, Ehssan Malamiri, pledge to quit the following LUXURIES in order to raise money for the people of Pakistan.

1. NO ALCOHOL FOR 3 MONTHS!!!
2. No coffee for 3 months
3. No soft drink for 3 months

This period covers my Birthday! Christmas! Jess & Jehan’s Engagement! New Years Eve AND New Years Day!

~ YOUR HELP & KINDNESS ~

"The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well being becomes"

- His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

Please help the needy. In doing so you are also helping yourself and man kind as a whole.

~ TEMPTATION ~

To prevent any form of misconduct to the above sanctions and to ease any of your issues with me cheating I am nominating a member from each one of my social circles to be my personal referee.

One of these people will be with me at most work, social occasions, at home, etc. so rest assured I am going through with this! All the way.

The nominated people are:

Home - Atena Malamiri
Work - Aleksander Ilic
Personal #1 - Andrew Howe
Personal #2 - Jessica Santos and Jehan Loke
Personal #3 - Moe Shalbaf

~ WHERE THE MONEY GOES ~

I have searched around for the right charity to fundraise for and I have chosen ‘Plan’ for a few reasons, but mostly because I know that the money I raise will not go to waste.
Founded more than 70 years ago, Plan is one of the oldest and largest children's development organisations in the world and has no political or religious agenda.
Here is a link to their website for more info:

We've got it pretty sweet here in Oz so please help those not as fortunate.

Thanks,
Ehssan Malamiri

Plan (Pakistan Flood Appeal)

Plan urgently needs your help to address the immediate needs of children & their communities affected by the record floods in Pakistan and invest in long-term recovery operations.

Plan has moved quickly to help thousands of vulnerable families and their children affected by Pakistan’s worst floods in living memory. Children are among the most affected when a disaster strikes and Plan’s responses will also include child protection measures.

Plan is urgently seeking $5 million to support work with affected communities and to prepare communities downstream for the impact of the approaching floodwaters. With the global focus currently on the north-western regions of Pakistan, there is a great danger that the crisis could escalate as the waters move downstream to vulnerable Provinces.

Money going to the Pakistan floods appeal will be used for:

  • Urgent lifesaving needs such as food, water and shelter.
  • Health and hygiene promotion to prevent the spread of disease.
  • Management of displaced persons camps.
  • Child protection and child emotional health responses, including registration of separated and unaccompanied children.
Supporters can be assured that Plan is working closely with trusted partner organisations in Pakistan to ensure the delivery of all aid activities.

Plan is closely audited, both in Australia and globally, and all funds must be accounted for. A donation to the Pakistan floods appeal will be used in the most appropriate and effective way to help vulnerable people affected by this disaster.
